Accordion-fold Mini Album

I completed my first diy album and am fairly proud of it. I'm new to scrapbooking and find my inspiration from fellow bloggers. Today's Accordion-fold Mini Album is inspired by Amy Manharts Wuns Apon A Time Mini Album. She does a scrapbook with a 3 fold accordion mini album with photo sliders. Being a beginner, I went with the idea of a 6 page accordion scrapbook album. I have added photos of my finished scrapbook along with my quick and easy tutorial. I wanted to find a cheaper way to scrapbook cards from my bridal shower. Spending $10 on an album wasn't worth it. I made it a 5 1/4 in. square. In retrospect, I should have made it taller, something around 7 in. With that in mind, my tutorial is of a 5x7 6-page accordion mini-album made for 3 x 5 photos with a ribbon tied front. It would be fairly easy to change dimensions to fit your project need. My original was a 5 ¼ x 5 ¼ in. album.

Materials:

  • 4 - 5 3/4 x 12 in heavy weight cardstock
  • 1 - 5 3/4 x 5 3/4 in. heavy weight cardstock(same color as above)
  • 2 - 6 x 6 in. heavy weight cardstock for cover (different color)
  • 36 in coordinating ribbon
  • bone tool
  • permanent glue of choice

Booklet Assembly

Step 1

Take the
5 3/4in x 12in cardstock and score with your bone tool 5 3/4 inches and 11 1/2 inches.

Step 2

Next take one of the cover pieces, we will be making the back cover. Take the satin side of the ribbon and glue down to the back side of the back cover. Take the lip of one of the folded 12in cardstock pages, and glue down to the back cover 1/8 inch in from the edge. From here, glue down the 5 3/4 x 5 3/4 inch square on the back cover, covering up the ribbon strip.

Step 3

Take the lip of the next page glue the lip edge just as you did with the cover, and attach it to the straight edge of the last page we worked on. continue this for the next 2 pages.

Step 4

For the cover, just center and glue down the cover back side to the last page of the accordion folds. At this point, it should look something like this. tie the ribbon from the back cover around the front cover to hold it together.

Note: from start to finish including cutting down the card stock to size, it took me an hour and a half while watching a movie.

Below is my finished mini album.
